Privacy policy
Link Peek is a free Chrome extension. It has no accounts, payments, donations, advertising, analytics, telemetry, or developer-operated backend.
What Link Peek handles locally
- The current top-level HTTPS source page and the HTTPS destination selected for a preview are used locally to detect links, position the preview, check the final destination response, and render the user-requested snapshot.
- The selected destination URL and any HTTPS redirect URLs are temporary request data in the extension service worker.
- Sanitized destination HTML, up to three bounded HTTPS stylesheet responses, and the response policy fields needed for safe cache reuse may be held in
chrome.storage.sessionfor up to five minutes, with a maximum of eight entries and approximately 8 MB. Scripts, forms, active media, link navigation, and non-HTTPS remote resources are removed before a snapshot is shown in an empty-sandbox iframe. - Preview images are requested as HTTPS resources with credentials omitted and no referrer. Link Peek does not store their response bodies in its snapshot cache.
- Preferences and disabled HTTPS origins are stored in
chrome.storage.localon the device.
The extension does not send preview data, page contents, browsing history, credentials, cookies, or settings to Zane or an unrelated service. It does not sell or share this data for advertising or profiling. The extension has no custom cookies, forms, remote executable code, or telemetry.
Network requests
For a user-activated preview, the service worker may request the HTTPS destination and up to three HTTPS stylesheets. A supported YouTube link may use YouTube's official HTTPS embed URL for the preview request while open actions keep the original URL. Requests omit credentials, use no-store, set Referrer-Policy: no-referrer, and follow only HTTPS redirects. HTTP destinations, HTTP redirects, malformed redirects, opaque redirects, redirect loops, and excessive redirect chains fail closed. HTTP links therefore keep their normal browser behavior and are not previewed.
The requested destination server can receive the request in the ordinary way. Link Peek does not proxy it through a developer server. This policy is a static first-party document hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process the normal request needed to serve this page; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Permissions
- HTTPS website access: injects the preview interaction on top-level HTTPS pages and lets the service worker request user-selected HTTPS destinations and response headers.
- Storage: stores the local preferences and short-lived preview snapshots described above.
- Windows: opens a user-selected destination in a separate popup window.
User controls and deletion
- Shift-hover, Long-hover, and Hybrid activation are configurable; Long-hover can request a preview only after its configured delay and a stable pointer.
- Options can pause Link Peek, disable it for selected HTTPS origins, reset preferences, and change preview behavior.
- Closing the browser session, resetting the extension, or uninstalling it removes temporary session snapshots. Resetting settings removes stored preferences and disabled origins.
Limited Use commitment
Link Peek's use of website content and browsing activity/URLs is limited to previewing the user-selected link and providing its compliant fallback or settings. We do not sell, advertise with, profile, use for creditworthiness, or use this data for unrelated purposes. We do not maintain a developer-accessible copy of preview data.
Contact
Link Peek does not weaken or rewrite a destination's framing or content-security headers. Removing the extension removes its local settings and session cache. This policy is effective 2026-08-23. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to NeoBusiness2025@outlook.com.
